Tehran (IP) - The number of new daily cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been decreasing in Iran, the Government Spokesman said on Wednesday.

Iran Press/Iran News: Addressing the reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Ali Rabiei said the reports presented at the cabinet meeting showed a decrease in the number of daily coronaviruses cases in the country.

"The statistics show that the trend of new coronavirus cases in the whole country is declining steadily," added the Spokesman.

"If this trend continues, we may have good news in the future. For example, the daily death toll in Tehran has dropped by 40% compared to the beginning of the 1399 Persian year (starting from March 20). Also, Iran’s Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Farhad Dejpasand, who is in charge of coronavirus management in Isfahan province, reported that there were no new deaths in the province two days ago," Rabiei added.

The official also noted that during the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the government stressed the need to produce the necessary items in the fight against coronavirus, especially the new test kits prepared by knowledge-based companies based on the body's antibody levels.

Iranian Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour announced that as of Wednesday, more than 76,000 people in the country have definitely been infected with the coronavirus, more than 4,700 people have died due to the virus and nearly 50,000 have recovered.

COVID-19 has infected nearly 2,000,000 people around the world and killed at least 127,000 people, while more than 491,000 have recovered.
