Tehran (IP) - Ministry of Health and Medical Education Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour on Sunday afternoon updated the latest statistics on COVID-19 disease in the country.

Iran PressIran News: "The National mobilization and people's cooperation is yielding result to contain the virus, and roughly 60 million Iranians registered at Salamat.gov.ir to check themselves thoroughly," the Ministry of Health and Medical Education spokesman said.

"In Iran, the average age to be infected with the disease is 64. Please respect others and stop visiting each other especially old ones," Jahanpour urged.

"If today Iran is able to control the disease it is all due to people's cooperation and this cooperation requires continuity", he highlighted.

He added Plasma donation to coronavirus patients has begun at Masih Daneshvari Hospital. Initial tests for the treatment of corona disease using stem cells have also been positive.

Jahanpour in an answer to Iran Press said these two methods can be a hope for the treatment of coronavirus disease but it is early to evaluate and judge the process, and any treatment must first be approved and accepted by the National Task Force in Combating Coronavirus then would be shared in the reporting framework with the world".

"Plasma donation, stem cell, old and hi-tech medicines are all good events to work on combating and containing the virus. The most parts of the medicines are produced in the country though under aggressive bullying sanctions even their commodities and Iran would not have any problem producing and distributing the medicines despite illegal sanctions," he added.
