Tehran (IP) - Iran's Minister of Health and Medical Education said that the country is ready to control the COVID-19 disease, caused by the Coronavirus, urging people to help in the fight against the virus.

Iran Press/ Iran News: Addressing the reporters at a press conference on Friday 28 February, Saeed Namaki said that this Ministry at full capacity made ready all its medical and hospital equipment, adding that the next week would be the peak of coronavirus outbreak.

He went on to say that however with the awareness of the people, the information of the devices and the media, as well as the efforts of the managers, the outbreak will be controlled and contained. 

“We urge people to be more observant and to help reduce the rate of the outbreak of COVID-19,” he added.

Namaki stressed that travel must be avoided unless in very urgent cases that they have no choice but to travel. 

He added: "With the cooperation of the armed forces that have always been with us We will take steps to create spaces and extra beds for emergencies, massively disinfect passages and large public places and assist the country's medical and nursing forces."

Schools across the country were scheduled to be closed for three days from Saturday 29 to Tuesday 2 March, and there would be tele-education via Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) to cover the closed sessions.

Governors of Provinces are granted authority to decide on decreasing two-office hours on condition that the services are not disrupted. 

The Minister of Health and Medical Education also said that a plane is going to arrive in Iran with masks and costumes for the medical staff from overseas.

The official said that provinces that are at high risk can move to telework.

He added that the cities are not going to be quarantined, but there will be more control at cities’ entrances and those with the COVID-19 symptoms will be quarantined for 14 days.

Namaki urged the people to follow Iran's Health Ministry and Medical Education guidelines to contain this outbreak as soon as people.

Iranian Minister of Health and Medical Education, Seed Namaki extended his gratitude to the leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei who yesterday praised and expressed gratitude to all medical staff across the country.

Namaki also appreciated and praised those who provide accurate information to people in particular Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
