Iran Press/ Iran news: General Qasem Rezaie further said that the world should appreciate Iran's efforts to combat drug trafficking, adding: "Given the 50-fold increase in narcotics production in the world over the past 20 years, Western governments as human rights claimants must counter-narcotics production in reference countries."
"About 8,000 people pass through Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan's legal terminals daily," Brigadier General Qasem Rezaie added in a meeting with the Chief of State Border Service of Azerbaijan Republic Colonel Elçin Quliyev at the border region of Astara, northern Iran.
Iran's Border Guard Commander also referred to the upcoming meeting of Iranian and Azerbaijani border guards in Tehran, announcing an upcoming meeting of Iranian, Azerbaijani and Turkish border commanders in the near future.
Elçin Quliyev, on his part, welcomed the constructive engagement of the Iranian and Azerbaijani border guards and called for the continuation of the process.
The border town of Astara is located in the west of Gilan province, north of Iran.
