US death toll of COVID-19 surge, highest in the world

The death toll in the US due to COVID-19 rose to 78k and the country is the worst-hit country in the global pandemic, followed by the UK and Italy.

With 4,015,107 cases of the Coronavirus, the pandemic has already claimed the lives of more than 276,268 people around the world, and 1,387,478 have recovered so far.

There are at least 1,322,163 cases of Coronavirus in the US and at least 78,616 people have died the disease, according to the worldometer.info webpage.

Based on the data, 74 percent of the cases have recovered and 26 percent have died.

New York State, with at least 340,705 cases and 26,585 deaths, is the worst-hit state for the Coronavirus outbreak in the United States, followed by New Jersey with 137,212 cases of infection and 8,986 death.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the ongoing Coronavirus crisis is worse than the attacks on Pearl Harbor in WW2 and the World Trade Center in the 9/11 attacks.

According to the World Health Organization, as the coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 212 countries and territories around the world, there are 108 potential Covid-19 vaccines in development around the world. Eight of the potential vaccines are approved for clinical trials. 212/ 207
