Iraq (IP) – The streets leading to the holy Shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf City of Iraq have been decorated on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir.

Iran Press/Middle East: The Iranian and Iraqi pilgrims, among others, have come to Najaf and attended the holy Shrine of Imam Ali (AS), the first Imam of the world's Shia.

The dome of the shrine and its entries are decorated with green flags, with the pilgrims' passageway being decorated with flowers. 

The Head of the Islamic Promotion Organization Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Qomi told IranPress in an interview that due to the emphasis put on Eid al-Ghadir by the holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH), the occasion is of paramount importance among Muslims.

He further said that Eid al-Ghadir is considered very important in Iranian society because of 'Wilayah' issue which is Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) introduction of Imam Ali (AS) as his successor to be the Calipha and Imam (leader) of Muslims, Amir ul-Mumeneen.
