Commentary:

Tehran (IP) - The 32nd edition of the Arab Heads of State Summit was held on Saturday (May 19), hosted by Saudi Arabia in Jeddah.

Iran PressCommentary: The 32nd Summit of the heads of Arab countries was influenced by the presence of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the event.

Bashar Assad attended this meeting after a 12-year- gap and also held diplomatic meetings. In the final statement of the meeting, the issue of Syria was one of the main topics. In the final statement of this meeting, while welcoming the return of Syria and resuming the participation of the Syrian government delegations in the meetings of the Arab League and related institutions, the need to increase aid to Syria in order to overcome its crisis was also emphasized.

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan also said at the end of this meeting: "From Saudi's point of view, the current situation in Syria cannot continue.

He continued: "Finding real solutions for the Syrian crisis is only possible through cooperation with the Damascus government."

Another issue is that; Bashar Assad's presence in this meeting was also noticed by the media of different countries of the world. Referring to the presence of Bashar al-Assad in the Jeddah Summit, media affiliated with the Israeli regime stressed that "It would be more correct to say that the Arab League has returned to Syria, not the other way around."

In addition to the Syrian issue, other issues related to the Arab world were also discussed at the Jeddah meeting. However, the result of these talks was more than how to solve the current crises in the Arab world, it was merely referring to these crises and repeating the positions of the past.

Although; the final statement of the summit welcomed Syria's return to the Arab League and strengthened cooperation between the Arab states and the need to solve the internal challenges of these countries was emphasized, a practical solution for the crises in Yemen, Lebanon, Sudan, and Libya was not presented.

The issue of Palestine was discussed in this Summit while the Arab countries have not taken any action to support Palestine in at least one month since the Israeli regime imposed a war on Palestine, attacked Al-Aqsa Mosque, and increased violence against Palestinians. And they did not condemn the actions of the Tel Aviv regime.

Regarding the Yemen crisis, in the Jeddah Summit, The Presidential Leadership Council (affiliated with the Saudi coalition) was supported to establish security and stability, and at the same time, it was emphasized to support the efforts of the United Nations and regional countries to achieve a comprehensive political solution to the Yemen crisis.

This issue was criticized by a member of the Supreme Political Council of Yemen. Muhammad Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Supreme Political Council of Yemen, in a tweet called the issues raised in the statement of the Arab League leaders about Yemen clichéd and outdated and said: "These show the unwillingness of the aggressor countries to resolve the crisis and that they do not want peace."

Regarding the crisis in Lebanon, only the need to elect a president and form a government as soon as possible was emphasized, and regarding Libya, the integration of the Libyan armed forces and stabilization of the ceasefire in this country, and the need for dialogue between the warring groups were emphasized regarding Sudan. However, no practical solutions have been presented for each of these three issues, which are among the most important challenges of the Arab world, and the Jeddah Summit has not yielded any results in this regard.

The important and different point in the Jeddah Summit compared to previous years' meetings was that, unlike the previous years, when the Arab leaders always took a stand against Iran, in the Jeddah meeting, while avoiding this approach, the bilateral agreement reached between Saudi Arabia and Iran in a bid to the activation of the security and economic cooperation agreement was welcomed.

The final point is; The Jeddah meeting showed that important Arab countries are trying to move towards stability, peace, and security and avoid any tension and conflict in their external environment.
