Vienna (IP) - Croatia's Foreign Minister, in a meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Zagreb, stressed dialogue as a solution to lift sanctions on Iran.

Iran PressEurope: Negotiations between the parties to the JCPOA kicked off in Vienna in April 2021, with the intention of bringing the US back into the deal and putting an end to its “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran.

The discussions, however, have been at a standstill since August 2022 due to Washington’s insistence on not lifting all of the sanctions slapped on Tehran by the previous US administration and offering the necessary guarantees.

Emphasizing the traditional and friendly relations with Iran, Gordan Grlić-Radman, Croatian Foreign Minister in his meeting with Parviz Esmaeili, the Iranian ambassador to Croatia, expressed his satisfaction with the development of bilateral cooperation in various fields in recent years.

Gordan Grlić-Radman also emphasized the strong support of the European Union for the revival of the JCPOA and negotiations to lift sanctions on Iran. 

Parviz Esmaili, for his part, appreciated Gordan Grlić-Radman for his support and the for the development of relations between the two countries.

Maintaining and promoting friendly relations and continuous communication between the authorities of the two countries, supporting the connection of the private sectors and the growth of non-oil trade, cooperation in regional and international issues, holding numerous cultural programs, and the promotion of consular cooperation to higher levels were among the topics discussed in the meeting.
