Iran Press/America: Speaking at an event organized by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, Sullivan noted that the US would take necessary action to ensure Iran did not acquire a nuclear weapon, which that Iran denies seeking. The White House official, however, lamented former President Trump's decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal in 2018.
Sullivan made the remarks ahead of his visit to Saudi Arabia, where he is scheduled to hold talks with Saudi officials, including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and meet with his counterparts from the United Arab Emirates and India. The discussions are expected to cover a range of issues, including the conflict in Yemen, which Sullivan confirmed would be "a significant topic" during the meetings.
The US accusations against Iran's peaceful nuclear program come despite the fact that Tehran's program is monitored by the nuclear watchdog, IAEA, and the fact that the US unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal known as the JCPOA and the Israeli regime possesses a large number of warheads.
Saudi Arabia and Iran began normalizing relations earlier this year in a surprise China-brokered deal that saw them inch towards opening embassies in Tehran and Riyadh.
