Iran PressIran News: The Phalevani ritual of shovel swinging has been a symbol of gratitude for the abundance of water, which is rooted in the culture of the people of the historical and touristic region of Nimvar.

In the shovel swinging ceremony, the wrestlers rotate the shovels around their heads and sing the slogan "If you are tired, say ya Ali (utter the name of Imam Ali (AS) Ali" and they believe that the ritual will increase blessings and rain.

In the past, to preserve the spiritual ritual, the people of the historical city of Nimvar used to purify the air space every year when the water streams were blocked by mud or the growth of plants and weeds, with the announcement of the elders of the city and with the participation of each other.

In 2013, the traditional ritual of shovel swinging in Nimvar was registered in the list of intangible heritage of Iran.
