Iran unveils memorial stamps on zoorkhaneh sport registration day

The unveiling ceremony of the stamp of the late Haj Seyyed Hassan Razaz Pahlavan was held at the Zurkhaneh National Academy of Shahid Fahmideh at the same time as the tenth anniversary of the registration of Iranian zurkhaneh sports in UNESCO.

Iran PressSport news: Communication, Sports and Youth, the president of the Zurkhaneh Sports and Wrestling Federation, and several veterans of Zurkhaneh sports, the present veterans were honored with a Plaque of Appreciation.

In this ceremony, Mojtaba Johari, President of the Zurkhaneh Sports Federation said: "Today, November 15th, is the tenth anniversary of the registration of Zurkhaneh sports and Iranian wrestling culture in UNESCO, and with this ceremony, the stamp of the late Seyed Hassan Razaz, one of the Zurkhaneh sports heroes will be unveiled.

The president of the Zurkhaneh Sports and Wrestling Federation added: "We had started the project related to printing the stamp of Pahlavan Razaz since the last 6 months, but due to the restrictions created because of the coronavirus outbreak, this work was postponed.

"Finally, we decided to unveil the stamp of Pahlavan Razaz at the same time as holding the tenth year of the world registration of zurkhaneh sports and wrestling culture.", he added.

Mojtaba Johari said: "The unveiling of the stamp of a Zurkhaneh sports champion is unique in the history of sports, and I hope this move will lead us to take effective steps in introducing other great Zurkhaneh and wrestling sports and introducing them to future generations so that they will appreciate these heroes."

Also, Abdul Hamid Ahmadi, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, said at the ceremony: "Zurkhaneh sport has its roots in the ancient history of Iran and as a valuable religious, cultural and sports heritage has been able to have a high position to introduce Iranian sport in the world."

The Deputy Minister of Culture of the Ministry of Sports and Youth added: "The capacities of Zurkhaneh sports are similar and we know of few sports in the world that, in addition to significant sports skills, can also carry cultural values."

Abdul Hamid Ahmadi said: "The lasting part of sports is the character of heroism. The more we can establish the culture and character of heroism in sports, the more valuable and lasting our heroes will be."

In this ceremony, Mahdi Abbasi, Zurkhaneh sports researcher, and Ramazan Ali Sobhanifar, CEO of Iran Post Company, also emphasized the importance of expanding Zurkhaneh sports in Iran and the world.

Zurkhaneh, which literally means 'strength house' in Persian, is a special traditional place where men practice heroic sport.
