Lebanon (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister said the country has prioritized its foreign policy based on open space and contact with regional countries, especially the neighbors.

Iran PressMiddle East: Taking part in a press conference on Friday in Beirut, Hossein Amir-Abdollahain told reporters with regard to Iran-Saudi Arabia relations that the dialogue between Iran and Saudi Arabia has positive effects in the region and Lebanon, and has opened new pages in the region.

Amir-Abdollahian said put emphasis on the position of Lebanon in the region as the forefront of the Resistant Front, noting that the Lebanese political elites have the ability to accomplish the political process and elect a new president.

"In my meeting with Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah and Ziad Al-Nakhleh, I came to the belief that the Axis of Resistance is the core of the equation against the Zionist regime," he said.

With regard to other areas of cooperation with Lebanon, the Iranian FM stated that Iran can supply Lebanon's electricity as it supplies for Iraq, but the US improvises obstacles and hinders such help. 

Iran-S. Arabia ties to benefit of the whole region

Elsewhere in his press conference, Iran's Foreign Minister told the reporters about the recent development in the ties of the Islamic Republic with Saudi Arabia, saying that the Iranian-Saudi restoration of ties was to the benefit of the whole region's countries.

Amir-Abdollahian said: "My Saudi counterpart accepted my invitation to visit Iran and I will also accept his invitation to visit that country."  

"We assess the contacts between Iran and Saudi Arabia as positive in the framework of diplomacy and we believe that the future of the region will move towards regional cooperation," he added.

With regard to the restoration of ties between Saudi Arabia and Syria, he told reporters: "Simultaneously with the Iranian-Saudi talks, we witnessed Riyadh-Damascus security talks, with an important agreement being reached between the two countries to normalize relations and return Syria to the Arab League."

FM Amir-Abdollahian noted that Iran welcomes the strengthening of Syria's relations with the Arab countries and the whole region, and said that these openings prove that the policy of collapsing Syria, behind which was the Israeli regime, has failed.
