Europe(IP)-In a telephone conversation with the Secretary General of the Arab League, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy called for an immediate end to the conflict in Sudan.

Iran PressEurope: Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, had a telephone conversation with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the secretary general of the Arab League.

Borrell has emphasized in the telephone conversations that he will continue to make calls with international partners to contain the ongoing crisis in Sudan, an immediate ceasefire, de-escalation, protection of civilians, and pressure to return to the transitional process.

He said: "The European Union foreign ministers, who will meet next Monday in Luxembourg, will discuss the developments in Sudan and ask all foreign parties to refrain from interfering in Sudan's affairs."

The European Union's foreign policy official added that the EU's delegation left Khartoum.

Armed clashes have started in Sudan since Saturday morning between the army forces and the rapid support forces overpower.

The counter-attacks of the Sudanese army and the rapid support forces have resulted in damage to public property and have caused problems with the supply of water and electricity in some areas of Khartoum.

The World Health Organization reported that 300 people have been killed and 2,600 injured since the start of the conflict in Sudan.
