Iran Press/ Iran News: In recent days, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia, with the mediation of China, agreed to resume bilateral diplomatic relations after seven years.
Following this agreement, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met and talked with Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan in Beijing.
Based on the agreements between Tehran and Riyadh, Director-General of Iran's Foreign Ministry Office for Persian Gulf Affairs, Alireza Enayati, stated: "Iran's permanent mission in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia will operate at full capacity, and the upcoming trip of the President of Iran to Saudi Arabia Ebrahim Raisi will have significant effects on bilateral as well as regional and extra-regional relations."
Enayati further described the latest developments in Iran's relations with Saudi Arabia and a number of other southern countries along the Persian Gulf, including Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, and announced the news that planning for the visit of the Sultan of Oman to Iran is underway and said: "The UAE has invited the President of Iran to participate in the World Climate Summit that will be held in this country this year (2023)."
Director-General of Iran's Foreign Ministry Office for Persian Gulf Affairs added: "In relation to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Saudi Arabia as the host government has obligations, and the Saudis have always emphasized that as the host government, they adhere to their commitments in relation to this organization and its members."
Enayati further said: "Regarding the heads of the Iranian missions in Saudi Arabia, whether it is the Iranian permanent representative office in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation or the heads of the Iranian missions in Riyadh and Jeddah, decisions have been made inside the country and the Iranian Foreign Ministry and based on schedule and in due time the tasks in this field will be progressing."
