Iran Press/ Iran News: Nasser Kanaani on Friday morning, expressing deep sympathy and condolences to the family of this embassy member, as well as the government and people of the Republic of Azerbaijan, stated that the police and security forces immediately intervened and arrested the assailant, who is now is being interrogated.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs further added: “With the special order of the country's political and security authorities, the issue with high priority and sensitivity is being investigated in order to determine the dimensions of this action and the motive of the assailant.”
Kanaani said: "The results of the preliminary investigations by the relevant authorities and institutions indicate personal motives behind this action, therefore, due to the immediate reaction of the relevant law enforcement, security and judicial institutions and institutions, it is recommended that the media refrain from publishing unreliable news and speculations."
The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that more detailed information in this regard will be published after the investigation process is completed.
At eight o'clock Friday morning, a Pride vehicle stopped in front of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran and managed to enter the embassy building after using a weapon. After this person attacked the embassy, one person from the Republic of Azerbaijan was killed and 2 people were injured.
According to the head of Tehran's Criminal Affairs Prosecutor's Office, preliminary investigations show that this person attacked the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran with personal motivation.
In the initial investigation, the accused has claimed: In April this year, my wife went to the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran and did not return home.
He expressed his motivation, saying: “I did not receive any response from them during my repeated visits to the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran and I thought that my wife was present at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran and was not willing to meet me. This morning I decided to go to the embassy with the Kalashnikov rifle that I had already prepared.”
A judiciary official Judge Shahriari said: In the initial investigation, the attacker claimed that his motive for attacking the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran was completely personal.
Turkish FM and Russia also condemned the armed attack.
Azerbaijani president President Ilham Aliyev strongly condemned the armed attack. claiming it to be terrorist attack. However, according to Iranian officials, the attack on the Azerbaijani Embassy has been done based on personal motivations and family matters.
