German media reported that after months of discussions, German Chancellor Olaf Schultz has decided to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine.

Iran PressEurope: The war in Ukraine, with all its political, military, economic, social and even cultural consequences, is in its eleventh month, and Western countries are still sending weapons to Ukraine.

Russian officials and some Western experts and media have described the conflict in Ukraine as a proxy war between the West and Russia.

Germany is to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, in a move that marks a significant breakthrough in western efforts to bolster Kyiv’s fight against the Russian army.

A report in the German news outlet Spiegel Online, which first reported the move, said Berlin would send at least a company of Leopard 2A6s, typically about 14 tanks. It said they would come from the stocks of the Bundeswehr, the German army.

Germany becomes part of an emerging coalition of NATO members providing tanks and armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. Besides the U.K. and France, the U.S. is said to be actively considering sending its Abrams main battle tank.
