Tehran (IP) - The Speaker of Iran's Parliament, condemning the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden, said that Swedish politicians cannot hide orchestrated flagrant Islamophobia behind the fake mask of freedom of speech.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran's Parliament, stated at the beginning of the open session of the parliament on Tuesday that such actions and desecration of the sanctities have hurt the feelings of Muslims and monotheists all over the world, and Swedish politicians cannot hide this flagrant Islamophobia behind the fake mask of freedom of speech.

Referring to the visit of the Russian parliamentary delegation to Iran, Ghalibaf said that relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia are of great importance for various reasons, including enjoying the neighborhood of the Caspian Sea, regional concerns and commonalities, as well as international cooperation.

The speaker stated that the parliaments of Iran and Russia should try to hold continuous practical meetings and facilitate the development of laws and supervision for the better movement of the governments and to help improve the quality of life of the people.

Ghalibaf also pointed to the monetary and banking cooperation between Iran and Russia and stated that the two countries should be able to take measures in the exchange between the Russian Ruble and the Iranian Rial as well as on communication issues between the two sides' central banks.

Iran and Russia share strategic interests in bilateral fields, especially economic, military and security relations, as well as regional and international issues such as confronting American unilateralism, and this has been one of the main factors of close cooperation between the two sides in recent years.
