Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman has expressed deep regret over the Swedish Court of Appeal's treatment of the Iranian national Hamid Nouri.

Iran PressIran news: Nasser Kanaani noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not spare any effort to defend the rights of its citizens throughout the world, adding, “We once again remind the Swedish government of the necessity of respecting the human, legal and consular rights of this Iranian citizen."

Kanaani made the reaction on Wednesday (January 11), the same day that Nouri appeared before the court.

Nouri, at the beginning of the court session on Wednesday, said that he would not stand trial in Swedish courts as long as authorities of that country refused to address his problems, calling his trial process unfair.

According to his son, Majid Nouri, the Swedish judge ordered Hamid Nouri's microphone to be turned off after he complained about his condition.

Hamid Nouri then continued to speak loudly, his son said, adding that his father was then expelled from the court, with the session going on in his absence.

Hamid Nouri, an Iranian judicial employee, was detained in November 2019 upon arrival at Stockholm Airport.

Earlier Hossein Amirabdollahian, Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs,  in November this year, in a telephone conversation with the new foreign minister of Sweden, demanded the release of Hamid Nouri, an Iranian citizen imprisoned in this country, and said:" In recent years, some issues have affected the relations between the two countries, which were mainly the result of the negative actions and actions of the third party.

In 2018, Hamid Nouri was arrested as soon as he arrived at the Stockholm airport during a scenario designed by the terrorist group MKO (Mojahedin-e-Khalq or MEK).

Nouri along with Iranian authorities have rejected those accusations as false and politically-motivated.

Nouri has time and again complained about the conditions he faces in custody, saying that he is kept in solitary confinement while he is denied medical care for the eye problems he is suffering from.
