In a telephone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister, the President of Turkey stressed the necessity to end PKK's presence in northern Iraq.

Iran PressMiddle East: President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated Ankara’s determination to achieve the goals of fighting terrorism to ensure security and emphasized the importance of cooperation between Türkiyeand Iraq during a telephone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani on Tuesday.

Emphasizing that the peace, stability and territorial integrity of Iraq are equally important for Türkiye, Erdogan once again stressed the importance of ending the presence of the PKK terrorist group in northern Iraq for the country’s national security interests.

Ankara has listed the Kurdistan Workers' Party of Türkiye (PKK) and its related branches, including the People's Defense Units (YPG), in the list of terrorist groups, and in addition to Turkey, the northern regions of Iraq and Syria are subject to attack by this group.

These attacks have been repeatedly condemned by Baghdad, Damascus and the international community as a violation of the sovereignty of these two countries. 219
