Iran Press/ Iran news: Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met with the family and members of the commemoration staff of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani here in Tehran on Sunday.
He said: By strengthening the material and spiritual resistance, Lt. Gen. Soleimani preserved, equipped, and revived the enduring and growing phenomenon against the Zionist regime and the influence of the United States and other arrogant countries.
Referring to the progress of the Palestinians in confrontation against the Zionists and the achievements of the resistance in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen, Ayatollah Khamenei said: "With the experiences of the years of holy defense and consultations with his comrades, Lt. General Soleimani strengthened the resistance by utilizing the resources in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen."
He called defeating ISIS one of the important achievements of Martyr Soleimani.
Appreciating the admirable activities of General Esmaeil Ghaani, IRGC's Quds Forces commander, the Leader said: "The resistance groups consider themselves the strategic depth of the Islamic Republic and the wings of Islam, and they will continue in the direction."
The memory of the martyr and his characteristics should be kept alive by using all kinds of art, the leader added.
General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), and Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Second-in-Command Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were assassinated along with their companions in a US drone strike authorized by the former US President Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
General Soleimani and his companions were highly popular because of their key role in eliminating the US-backed ISIS terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.
General Soleimani was assassinated by the US while he was in Baghdad at the official invitation of the Iraqi government.
