At the ceremony commemorating the 30th anniversary of the expansion of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that ECO has a special place for the Islamic Republic of Iran every opportunity will be used to strengthen the convergence processes in ECO.

Iran PressIran News: The commemoration ceremony of the 30th anniversary of the expansion of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was held on Sunday at the Center for Political and International Studies in Tehran with the presence of Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Secretary General of the ECO Organization, ambassadors and officials.

The Economic Cooperation Organization or ECO is an Asian political and economic intergovernmental organization that was founded in 1985 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and Turkiye.

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran in this ceremony said: "Deepening and expanding economic cooperation with neighbors, countries in the region and Asian countries is one of the priorities of economic diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

He said: "Multilateral and regional organizations such as ECO have an important place in this strategy, and strengthening their role and position as an accelerator of bilateral cooperation and facilitating the economic development of the region is the concern and effort of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Iran's foreign minister continued: "We believe that ECO can be a successful model in South-South cooperation; in cooperation between landlocked countries and transit countries; in cooperation between energy producing and consuming countries, people-oriented cooperation, especially in the field of tourism; scientific and academic collaborations; along with technological and innovative cooperation."

He emphasized: "In addition to the member countries, the ECO Secretariat and the specialized and regional institutions and agencies of ECO also play an important role in the realization of these models." 219
