Tehran (IP) - Members of the Iranian Parliament on Wednesday gave a vote of confidence to President Ebrahim Raisi's nominee for the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash.

Iran PressIran News: Bazrpash got the approval of Majlis with 187 votes in favor of him and 64 votes against him and became Iran's new minister of roads and urban development. 

Seven lawmakers abstained, and five of the votes were dismissed votes.

Mehrdad Bazrpash was Chairman of the Supreme Audit Court (SAC) of Iran.

Former Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Qasemi resigned due to his deteriorating health condition.

After Qasemi's resignation, Shahriar Afandizadeh, a high-ranking ministry official, was introduced as the caretaker of the ministry.

Today, Iran's Parliament members examined the competence of the proposed Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash. Finally, they gave him a vote of confidence as the new road Minister.

As an opponent lawmaker, Mahdi Askari said that the proposed minister was not well aware of the root problems in the country's construction field and his plans were unclear. 

As a proponent, Kiumars Sarmadi said Bazrpash was capable and that the administration was expected to use his experience and talent to solve the people's housing problems. 

He said the proposed minister acted on time in budget settlement reports in the Supreme Audit Court of Iran. 

Another lawmaker, Hossein Hatami, agreed with the nominated person and said BBazrpash'srecord is wealthy and had plans to solve housing problems, including practices to supply the financial sources of the building.
