Tehran (IP) - Iran's President, in his joint presser with the Iraqi PM, considered the relations between Iran and Iraq to be deep and rooted and appreciated the Prime Minister and the people of this country for hosting the Arbaeen pilgrims.

Iran PressIran news: According to Iran Press, the joint press conference of President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Shi'a al-Sudani started in Sa'ad Abad Palace.

Iran's President called the Iran-Iraq ties deep-rooted.

Iran's President also stressed that security, peace, and stability in the region are important. Therefore, the fight against terrorist groups and drugs is part of the agreements and will of the two countries.

The President said: "I thank the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mr. Al-Sudani, for accepting the invitation to the Islamic Republic of Iran and being present in Islamic Iran."

Iran's President continued: "Our relations with the country of Iraq are not ordinary relations, our relations are rooted in the beliefs of the two nations, and this is a very deep root one that has brought the two nations and the two governments together."

Raisi stated: "You can find the root of these connections in Husseini's Arbaeen and the presence of people from all over the Islamic world, especially the people who love Ahl al-Bayt's innocence and purity in Islamic Iran, in the land of Iraq, and the excellent hospitality that the Iraqi government and people showed for all pilgrims, especially dear Iranians and the pilgrims of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)."

He said: "I have the right to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to the Iraqi people for hosting them and to the Iraqi government."

The president emphasized: "The Iraqi government is the result of the agreement of the political groups in Iraq; We hope that the Prime Minister's plan will provide a different service for the people of Iraq."

Saying that Tehran and Baghdad cooperate in the cultural, political, social, and security fields, Raisi expressed hope that Iran-Iraq cooperation will improve during the new government's tenure.

Iran's president stressed: "From our point of view and the Iraqi government, security, peace, and stability in the region are very important, and therefore, the fight against terrorist groups, the fight against organized crime, the fight against drugs and any insecurity that threatens the region are among the agreements and the common will of the two countries."

Emphasizing that the security of the region, together with regional stability and peace, should be established by the authorities and the forces in the region, he said: "The presence of foreigners in the region does not create security in any way, but it adds to our problems so the same as the presence of Americans in Afghanistan and Iraq could not stablish security maker, it is not a privilege in other parts of the region, and surely their expulsion from the region can greatly contribute to the security of the region."

The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, arrived at Sa'ad Abad historical complex on Tuesday and was formally received by Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi.

Al-Sudani is visiting Iran at the head of a political and economic delegation.
