UN (IP) - Iran’s envoy rejected the Special Session of the UN Human Rights Council on the Islamic Republic as a political scam.

Iran PressEurope: Khadijeh Karimi made the comment at the first meeting of the 35th Special Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Thursday which was convened following an official request on November 11 by Germany and Iceland.

The Iranian envoy said that the so-called champions of human rights, which have committed crimes against humanity throughout history are of no “moral credibility” to advise others.

Karimi expressed regret that a group of bullying governments is misusing the Human Rights Council for political purposes.

She also spoke out against Germany’s move to call for the session, saying that the politically-motivated measure is actually an organized plot that has a hidden agenda, but it will gain no results.

Karimi dismissed the West’s expressing concern about the human rights situation in Iran, calling it deceptive at a time when the rights of the Iranian people have already been violated due to sanctions imposed by the United States and implemented by European countries including Germany, Britain and France.

The Iranian envoy also referred to the September death of 22-year-old woman Mahsa Amini and said while investigations were underway into her death, some Western states provoked Iranians’ feelings and caused rioting in Iran.

The diplomat criticized Persian-language new networks based in the UK and the US for spreading lies and encouraging violence in Iran, saying that hundreds of Iranian security forces were killed and injured as a result, while massive destruction of public property was caused.
