Tehran (IP) - Speaking at the eleventh session of the Supreme Council of Provinces on Saturday, Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi called Councils one of the important pillars of decision-making in Iran.

The president stated that the city and village councils have a special place in the constitution and stated that the constitution has introduced the Islamic councils in cities and villages as one of the important pillars of decision-making across the country.

"Also, the role of the councils in implementing social and economic justice at all levels and fighting against poverty, corruption and discrimination is one of the councils' activities, and the mechanism of the councils should be in a way that can prevent any kind of discrimination and corruption."
