Two Pakistani soldiers were killed in a military operation in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Pakistani military said on Wednesday.

Iran PressAsia: An exchange of fire took place between security forces and terrorists in Hilal Khel area of Bajaur district of the province, said a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army's media wing.

During the intense fire exchange, two Pakistan army personnel and a terrorist were killed, said the statement.

The killed terrorist had been actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces, it said.

According to Xinhua, weapons and ammunition were also seized from the killed terrorist.

Sanitization of the area was being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists in the area, said the statement.
