Tehran (IP) - Iran's Ministry of Intelligence reported the dismantling of a huge international network of drug distribution in the country.

Iran PressIran news: Issuing a statement on Sunday, the Iranian ministry of intelligence network used foreign nationals and professional methods under the cover of the public transport fleet, attempting to transfer large shipments of drugs from the eastern borders of the country to the provinces deep in the country.

According to the intelligence acquired, the network distributed 300 to 400 kilograms of drug shipments in Iran on average daily. 

The statement said that 32 members of the notorious gang were detained, 1,054 bank accounts belonging to the gang's members were blocked, and a great amount of their asset was confiscated. 

Despite the West's sanctions, the Islamic Republic of Iran has recorded the highest number of drug seizures in the world, with seizing 1,000 tons of narcotics per year.

Iran has inflicted 12,000 martyrs and disabled in the fight against trafficking narcotics. 

The UN has named Iran as a leading country in the fight against drugs.
