Tehran (IP) - Newly-appointed Russian Ambassador to Tehran, Alexey Dedov, submitted his credentials to Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Monday.

Iran PressIran news: The Iranian foreign minister and the Russian envoy mulled over ties between the two countries.

Amir-Abdollahian expressed hope that the two sides further broaden their relations, given agreements previously reached to enhance cooperation in diverse fields.

Alexey Dedov, for his part, announced his country's determination to promote ties with Iran.

Dedov was appointed as the Russian Ambassador to Tehran on September 8 under an executive order by President Vladimir Putin.

He has replaced Levan Dzhagaryan, who takes charge of the Russian embassy in Sri Lanka, according to Interfax news agency.
