Tehran (IP)- The official inauguration of 1026 megawatts of new thermal power plant capacity in Five provinces connected to Iran's national power grid was carried out with the president's presence at the Arian 2 power plant site in Zanjan via video conferencing.

Iran PressIran news: Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi, on Thursday morning, via video conferencing, ordered the official opening of three plans to increase the power plant capacity of 160 MW in the provinces of West Azarbaijan, Fars, and Khorasan Razavi and one issued the plan to increase the capacity of 180 MW power plant in East Azerbaijan province as well as  the plan to increase the capacity of the 366 MW  Thermal power plant in Zanjan

With the exploitation of these power plants, a total of 1026 megawatts of new power plant capacity entered the country's national electricity network. This is the first time more than 1000 MW of thermal power plants are being inaugurated simultaneously in the country.

Currently, the installed power plant capacity of the whole country is 89,365 MW, of which the share of thermal power plants is 72,614 MW (81.2%), hydropower is 12,87 MW (13.6%), Atomic, 1,200 megawatts (1.1 percent), and distributed renewable and diesel generation is 3,644 megawatts (1.4 percent).

68% of thermal power plants are private.
