Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister discussed bilateral and international issues in a phone conversation with Portuguese Foreign Minister Joao Gomes Cravinho late on Friday.

Iran PressIran news: In this conversation, the two ministers, referring to more than five centuries of good relations between the two countries, called to expand the ties between the two countries as much as possible.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Hossein Amir-abdollahian, called the end of the IAEA accusations against Iran. Talking about the war in Ukraine, Iran's top diplomat also denied sending any weapons to the warring parties.

"We believe that arming each of the parties will prolong the war, so we have not seen and don't see war a right way either in Ukraine or Afghanistan, Syria, or Yemen," he added.

Amir-abdollahian noted: "Iran faces terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda, Jaish al-Adl, and ISIS in the west and east. Also, in recent weeks, we have seen the arrival of weapons from the western and eastern borders. At the same time, some countries have called riots and terrorist activities protests and provoked the rioters and terrorists in their interventionist statements. They will even put a resolution or sanctions on their agenda in the upcoming Council of Ministers of the European Union meeting. In this case, the Islamic Republic will take countermeasures."

While emphasizing the long history of good relations between the two countries, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal also welcomed the positions and actions of the Islamic Republic in the continuation of the nuclear negotiations and especially the broader interaction with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). 

Joao Gomes Cravinho also encouraged continuing Iran's cooperation to reduce the Ukraine crisis. In the end, the top diplomat expressed his sympathy to the families of all the victims of the recent incidents in Iran.
