Iran (IP) - A group of Iranian students held peaceful protests in a number of the country's universities at the beginning of the new academic year.

Iran PressIran News: The students were calling for the release of a number of the students detained in the recent unrest that was sparked by the death of a Mahsa Amini, a young Iranian woman who lost her life days after she was taken into a police station in the capital Tehran. They also demanded a probe into the young woman's death case.

According to the footage of the Iran police CCTVs camera, Mahsa Amini fainted at the police department in Tehran on Tuesday after being taken there for violation of dress codes along with some other women.

The 22-year-old woman from Kurdistan died in hospital on Friday, September 16, 2022 despite intensive medical care and resuscitation efforts.

The death of Mahsa Amini then produced an alibi for the rioters to make unrest in the country, harm the police officers, and destroy public property.

The reason behind her death is under investigation following the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's orders.
