Tehran (IP) - The Chief of the General Staff of Iran's Armed Forces says that Iran, Russia, and China are holding a joint naval drill in the northern Indian Ocean within the next three months, adding that Pakistan, Oman, and several other countries will probably also participate in it.

Iran PressIran News: Iran's Armed Forces staged a military parade on Thursday during a military parade commemorating Sacred Defense Week. 

The Week is annually celebrated nationwide to mark martyrs and war veterans of the Iraqi-imposed war on Iran in 1980-88. 

The military parade is being held near Imam Khomeini Mausoleum in downtown Tehran, and the march is also organized simultaneously across the country.

In response to Iran Press, on the sidelines of the military parade, Major General Mohammad Bagheri said: "The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces have inked significant MoUs in various fields, including the transfer of experience, training, equipment, and joint exercises with countries, all of which indicate the expansion of cooperation and friendly relations between Iran and regional countries and of course the world."

Bagheri noted: "Iran's land and air borders are completely safe and we defend the country's borders and interests."

He further added: "Iran's naval forces are active in the open waters to deal with piracy and protect the oil tankers and commercial vessels."

In conclusion, Bagheri stated: "We are expanding our defense diplomacy with many neighboring and regional countries."
