Samarkand(IP)- Iran's President met with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in the Samarkand city of Uzbekistan on Friday.

Iran PressAsia: Last August, the Presidents of Iran and China discussed significant international and regional developments in a one-hour phone conversation and emphasized strengthening bilateral cooperation as much as possible.

Ebrahim Raisi, who has traveled to Samarkand at the official invitation of his Uzbek counterpart, started his three-day trip to Uzbekistan on Wednesday, 14 September. On the first day of bilateral meetings between Tehran and Tashkent, 17 cooperation documents were signed between the two countries.

Hossein Amir- Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, also signed the documents of Iran's membership in the Shanghai Organization on the first day.

On the second day of this trip, Raisi met and talked with the Presidents of Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and called the development of neighborhood and regional relations the fundamental policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Meeting with Iranian businessmen in Uzbekistan, attending prayers in the Samarkand mosque, and planting memorial saplings were other plans of the president on the second day of the trip.

The President of Iran has several meetings today and will leave Tashkent for Tehran.
