Tehran (IP)-The Minister of Foreign Affairs, in a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and a former Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (2019–2021), on Friday discussed the ways to expand bilateral relations.

Iran PressIran news: While conveying the greetings of Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran, to the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirzayev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, wished success for the successful holding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, which is scheduled to be held soon in the historic city of Samarkand.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also referred to Raisi's participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, and called it a turning point in bilateral relations.

Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Imamovich Nurov also called one of the most important topics on the agenda of the Samarkand meeting to focus on the importance and capacity of Iran as a new member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan also presented a report on the measures taken for the visit of the President of Iran to Uzbekistan and said that the signing of several bilateral documents during this trip was a basis for further improving the relations between the two countries.
