Tashkent (IP) - The Iranian Deputy Petroleum Minister for International Affairs and Trade has reached an agreement with the Acting Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan on the framework of cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.

Iran PressIran news: According to the official news agency of Iran's Petroleum Ministry, Shana, the high-ranking delegation of the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum, headed by deputy minister Ahmad Assadzadeh, left Tehran for Uzbekistan on Sunday to prepare the first oil cooperation memorandum with the country to be signed at the Shanghai summit.

On Monday, Assadzadeh met will Azim Ahmad Khojaf, Acting Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.

The delegations of Iran and Uzbekistan discussed the roadmap of short and long-term cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector and determined the cooperation framework early on Tuesday.

The representatives of the Iranian companies present in this meeting, while introducing their abilities and capacities, discussed the existing fields of cooperation with Uzbekistan with the Acting Minister of Energy and other managers of that ministry.

The MoU on the development of bilateral energy cooperation between Iran and Uzbekistan was also finalized in this meeting.

The document is supposed to be signed by Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji and his Uzbek counterpart during President Ebrahim Raisi's state visit to Uzbekistan to participate in the Shanghai Summit due on 15-16 September 2022 in Tashkent.
