UN chief on Thursday warned that any damage to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine would be suicide.

Iran PressEurope: On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for help by the heads of the Donbas republics. He stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories but aimed to demilitarize and denazify the country.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict has been met with international outrage, with the European Union, US, and the UK implementing tough financial sanctions on Moscow.

On Thursday, the UN chief and the presidents of Turkey and Ukraine discussed ways to end Kyiv's conflict with Russia and secure Europe's largest nuclear power station, which has come under shelling at the front lines.

Speaking with reporters after talks in Ukraine, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he was gravely concerned by the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant and called for military equipment and personnel to be withdrawn.

Zaporizhzhia is the largest nuclear power plant in Ukraine and Europe. This power plant is equipped with six nuclear reactors.

The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is currently under Russian control.
