Russia requested a UN Security Council meeting to discuss strikes on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

Iran PressEurope: On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for help by the heads of the Donbas republics. He stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories but aimed to demilitarize and denazify the country.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict has been met with international outrage, with the European Union, US, and the UK implementing tough financial sanctions on Moscow.

Zaporizhzhia is the largest nuclear power plant in Ukraine and Europe. This power plant is equipped with six nuclear reactors.

The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is currently under Russian control.

Russia requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on August 11 in connection with Kyiv's strikes on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, a media report.

Russia would like to see the Head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi as a speaker.
