Tabriz (IP) - July 31, the anniversary of the establishment of the Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization, has been named the National Blood Donation Day in the country, and the body's vital mission is to promote the culture of donating, preparing, and supplying blood and the transfusable components that can be derived from donated blood to meet the needs of patients.

Iran PressIran news: According to the announcement of Iran's Blood Transfusion Organization, blood reserves are not in good condition in some provinces, and the need for blood donation by people is vital.

By donating blood, everybody can keep himself or herself from heart attacks, cancer risk, liver problems, and Hemochromatosis. Also, donating blood brings happiness and vitality to people.

Mehdi Rasouli, Director General of Blood Transfusion of East Azarbaijan province, in an interview with Iran Press in Tabriz, said: "We should always know that there are people who are in urgent need of blood; an by donating, we can save the lives of one or three people."

Faranak Showkati, the head of the blood donors department in the Blood Transfusion Organization in Tabriz, also told Iran Press: "Cases such as surgery, traffic accidents, cancer, chemotherapy, etc., require the injection of blood products such as platelets, and plasma, for which no substitute has been found and still, continuous blood donation is vital for the treatment of these patients."
