Tehran (IP) - Head of Iran's Space Agency announced that the Islamic Republic would launch a satellite into space within months.

Iran PressIran news: Hassan Salarieh highlighted that with the launch team's efforts, the satellite would be launched in autumn.

He stated that without being active in the space field, countries' sovereignty is questionable full sovereignty is not achieved.

The head of Iran's Space Agency noted that managing the agricultural sector would be highly costly and incomplete without being active in space programs.

The Iranian official also referred to the vital role of space services in dealing with traffic and transportation and said that security issues and monitoring of a country's borders without being present in space are slow and incomplete; hence, it is critical to make use of space capacities in maintaining security in the borders.

He also pointed to the role of being active in space in monitoring meteorological conditions and dust storms.

Salarieh also elaborated on the effectiveness of space-related activities in managing subsidence, drought and water resources, besides identifying unlawful constructions in mountains and forest resources and controlling biological species.

Iran had launched its first satellite 'Omid' (meaning Hope) in 2009 and the 'Rasad' (meaning Observation) satellite in 2011.

IRGC Aerospace Force had also launched the 'Noor-2' Satellite by the domestically-built launcher Qassed (meaning the Messenger) on March 8, 2022, and placed it into orbit at an altitude of 500 km. The satellite's mission is reconnaissance, and it was placed in orbit after 480 seconds at a speed of 6.7 km/s.
