Islamabad (IP) - Special envoy of the Iranian President for Afghanistan arrived in Islamabad on Friday morning local time with the aim of meeting and consulting with Pakistani officials regarding regional developments, especially the situation in Afghanistan.

Iran PressIran News:  Hassan Kazemi Ghomi was welcomed by Seyyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini, Iran's ambassador to Pakistan, and some Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials upon his arrival at Islamabad International Airport.

Special envoy of the Iranian President for Afghanistan will meet and hold separate consultations with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Mohammad Sadiq Khan, Pakistan's Prime Minister's Special Representative for Afghanistan, during his one-day trip.

The English-language newspaper Nation Print Islamabad recently wrote in a report quoting diplomatic sources: "Iran and Pakistan will hold important consultations on the eve of the Afghanistan meeting in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan."

This report states: "Both Iran and Pakistan will participate in the upcoming Afghanistan summit, which is said to be held on July 26, hosted by Tashkent. From Pakistan, the Minister of Railways and the Prime Minister for Afghanistan Affairs Special Representative will attend this meeting.

Referring to the participation of the special representatives of 20 countries in the Afghanistan regional summit, the Nation newspaper claimed that Tehran and Islamabad will hold important consultations about Afghanistan and that the special envoy of the Iranian President for Afghanistan affairs is expected to visit Pakistan soon.

Nation quoted Pakistani diplomatic sources as saying that representatives of Tehran and Islamabad will follow up on issues related to border management between Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, as well as regional communications.
