Tehran (IP)- The Secretary General of the United Nations considered the agreement between Moscow and Kyiv to export grain from Ukrainian ports beneficial for the whole world and an essential step towards a comprehensive agreement between the two countries.

Iran PressAmerica: On Wednesday,  the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, confirmed that his country is two steps away from reaching an agreement with Russia to move ships carrying grain. 

Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, on Wednesday evening described it as essential to reach an agreement between Russia and Ukraine with the mediation of Turkey for the export of grains. 

During a press conference, Guterres said: "The agreement on the export of grain [from Ukrainian ports] is important, but there is still a long way to reach a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine." 

regarding the meeting of the representatives of Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, and the United Nations in Istanbul, he mentioned that; "All parties showed their eagerness to reach a final agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain." 

Guterres reacts to Russian military operation in Ukraine

This UN official stated: "The agreement on grain export will benefit the whole world and is an important step towards a comprehensive agreement between Russia and Ukraine." 

According to the report, Guterres also announced that the United Nations would work with Moscow, Kyiv, and Ankara to implement the agreements on grain exports reached in Istanbul. 

He stated: "We, together with the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Turkey, will make sure that the next steps for coordination, control and implementation (of the agreement) are done jointly and effectively." The United Nations is fully involved in these joint efforts. 

The UN Secretary-General added: "We hope the delegations will go to their capitals, and we hope that the next step will allow us to reach a formal agreement."
