Tehran(IP) - Iranian deputy Road Minister announced the Iran-Russia agreement on the transit of ten million tons of Russian goods through the North-South Corridor.

Iran PressIran News: Exchanges between Russia and the European Union were more than 250 billion Euros, which have decreased after the start of the war in Ukraine, and Iran can be a very good transit route for Russia.

Shahriar Afandizadeh, Deputy Transport Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, on Monday told IRIB that the route of exchange of goods between Iran and Russia is through the Caspian Sea and through the railway networks, and with the expansion of Iran's railway networks, the transit of goods through Iran will definitely increase in the near future.

Afandizadeh stated: "Iran's total transit last year was 11.5 million tons, and with the addition of 10 million tons of goods transit from Russia, a good position will be created which should be used optimally.

The deputy transport minister of Iran's road and urban development also said: It was decided that the contract for electrification of the train from Incheh Borun to Garmsar will be implemented with the cooperation of Russia by 2022.

Incheh Borun is a city and capital of Dashli Borun District, in Gonbad-e Qabus County in northeastern Golestan Province. Inche Boroun railway is located on the border of Iran with Turkmenistan.

Afandizadeh also about the importance of completing the Rasht-Astara railway in the northern Gilan province said: " After the completion of this rail network, Bandar Abbas in the Persian Gulf will be connected to the Republic of Azerbaijan and Russia and later the southern ports of Iran will be able to be connected to Europe through Russia.
