Ashgabat (IP) – Iranian president addressed the 6th Caspian Sea Littoral States Summit underway in Ashgabat, calling for more cooperation among the Caspian Sea littoral states.

Iran PressAsia: During his address, Ebrahim Raisi said: "Cooperation among Caspian Sea littoral states has become increasingly important amid international developments."

The Iranian president hoped that such meetings would bring security, stability, peace, and friendship to the region's people.

Raisi termed the Caspian Sea as a sea of cooperation and said: "Cooperation of the Caspian littoral countries, especially due to international developments, has become increasingly important and this interaction not only will lead to an economic boom and increased prosperity for our nations but also strengthens regional peace and stability and solves the issues of the Caspian Sea region through reliance on the littoral countries' capabilities."

He pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the Caspian Sea as a sea of peace and friendship and a factor in linking and bringing together the region's people.

The Iranian president also called for protecting the sea's fragile environment and reasonable use of its aquatic resource in line with the aim of economic development and promoting the welfare and security of the coastal nations.

"Fortunately, good and constructive cooperation is underway among Caspian Sea littoral states in various areas, especially transportation, trade, aquatic resources management, environmental protection, security and dealing with insecurity and crimes in various forms," he stated.

"After the lifting of the COVID-19 restrictions, we have seen a significant increase in political and economic interactions between Iran and the Caspian Sea littoral states," President Raisi added.

In the end, the Iranian president voiced Iran's readiness to host the 7th Caspian Sea Littoral States Summit.
