Tehran (IP) - Iran’s court has sentenced the government and US officials in the amount of 4 billion and 300 million dollars over nuclear martyrs families’ lawsuit.

Iran PressIran news: A chemistry expert, Ahmadi Roshan, 32, oversaw a department at the Natanz nuclear facility. He was assassinated on January 11, 2012, by a magnetic bomb placed on his car in northern Tehran in a terrorist attack blamed on Israel.

Over the past years, Iranian nuclear scientists have been the target of the Western and Israeli spy agencies’ assassination attempts.

Between 2010 and 2012, four Iranian nuclear scientists — namely Masoud Alimohammadi, Majid Shahriari, Darioush Rezaeinejad and Ahmadi Roshan — were assassinated, while another, Fereydoon Abbasi, was wounded in an attempted murder.

In the latest case, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, an Iranian nuclear scientist who headed the Iranian Defense Ministry’s Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research, was assassinated on November 27, 2020.

According to the office of the secretary of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights, the issuance of a US conviction in the legal case of some families of nuclear martyrs against the US government, institutions and officials.
 
Within the context of legal retaliation against the US government, considering the lawsuits of some families of Iran’s nuclear martyrs against the US government, institutions and officials at the time, Branch 55 of the Tehran Judiciary sentenced the government and US officials in the amount of 4 billion and 300 million dollars as the fine for material and moral damages.

According to the court ruling, the amount of two billion and one hundred and fifty million dollars has been considered due to the material and moral damages inflicted on the plaintiffs, and the same amount has been sentenced as punitive damage.

The petitioners of this case are the families of three martyred nuclear scientists of Iran and a nuclear veteran scientist and three wives of nuclear martyrs who are veterans and victims of terrorism in this case.

The defendants, in this case, are 37 American individuals and legal entities, including the US government, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, the US State Department, Brian Hook, Mike Pompeo, the US Department of Defense, the US National Security Agency, and so on.

The legal basis for the jurisdiction of this court is the Law on the Jurisdiction of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to hear civil lawsuits against foreign governments and its executive regulations.
