Kabul (IP) - The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul announced that the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) is ready to help earthquake victims in southeastern Afghanistan.

Iran PressIran news: On Wednesday, the Iranian embassy told the Taliban government's foreign ministry in Afghanistan that the IRCS was ready to provide relief and rescue operations in the quake-hit areas.

"Search, rescue teams, emergency medical services, rescue workers, volunteers, and medical staff of the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran are fully prepared to be sent to Afghanistan if requested by the Taliban government, announced the body.

The Taliban government has called on the international community and charities to help those affected by the quake.

Ali Bahadori-Jahromi, the Spokesman of the Iranian government, on the sidelines of the cabinet meeting, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and said that Iran would stand by the Afghan people and provide the necessary aid.

Saeed Khatibzadeh, the Spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed his deep sorrow and grief to the government and people of the friendly and brotherly nation of Afghanistan.

Khatibzadeh also announced Iran's readiness to provide health aid to the victims.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 killed at least 900 people and injured hundreds more, France 24 reported.
