Tehran (IP)- Iranian and Turkmen officials signed nine Memorandum of Understanding and a joint statement in the presence of the two countries' Presidents.

Iran PressIran News: The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov arrived in Tehran yesterday evening (Tuesday) with a political-economic delegation, welcomed by Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi.

Bilateral meetings, the signing of intergovernmental documents, and a press conference are among Berdymukhamedov's two-day visit to Tehran.

This is Berdymukhamedov's first visit to Tehran as President of Turkmenistan, and he had previously arrived in Iran on January 9, 2022, as a special envoy of the then President.

The official welcoming ceremony of the President of Turkmenistan was held in the cultural and historical complex of Sa'adabad with the presence of the Iranian President.

Memorandum of understanding was signed between the two border provinces of North Khorasan with the provinces of Akhal and Merv of Turkmenistan and the Golestan Province of Iran with the Balkan of Turkmenistan.

MoUs were also signed in scientific, cultural, artistic, and educational exchanges, investment, transportation and transit cooperation, and environmental protection.

Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) also signed a memorandum of understanding with the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television and Radio.

Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi traveled to Ashgabat in December last year with a high-level political and economic delegation to attend the 15th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO summit).
