In a telephone conversation with the Syrian Foreign Minister, the Iranian Foreign Minister condemned the Zionist regime's attack on the Damascus airport and emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to stand by the Syrian government and people.

Iran PressMiddle East: The Syrian army's air defenses on Friday morning confronted the latest Israeli military aggression on the outskirts of Damascus.

A Syrian military source said that the Israeli army launched several airstrikes targeting some areas south of Damascus in the occupied Golan Heights.

Amir Abdollahian in the conversation said: "Continuing aggression by the Israeli regime against Syria's infrastructure, including airports, ports and other important centers of the country, is not only a clear violation of Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity but also against all international laws, norms and principles."

Amir Abdollahian deplored the unacceptable silence of countries and the international community, regional and international forums, and called it a shame.

In this telephone conversation, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Mekdad, while appreciating the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasized the continuation of the Syrian people's resistance against the occupation and aggression of the Zionist regime.

He said: "Such hasty actions and aggressions of the Israeli regime in the region show the fear and weakness of the occupying Zionist regime." The Zionists are seeking to disrupt peace and stability in the region in order to hide their unstable and fragile situation.

The Syrian foreign minister added: "Israeli attacks are aimed at strengthening the remaining terrorist groups, including ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra, in Syria, and of course they will not succeed."

In the end, he stressed: "Such aggressions will further strengthen the determination of the Syrian people and government in the face of occupation and terrorism."

In recent years, the Zionist regime has repeatedly carried out airstrikes on Damascus and various parts of Syria, which have been repulsed in most cases by timely interception of air defenses.

The Israeli airstrikes come as the Syrian government has repeatedly sent a letter to the United Nations condemning the attacks and calling for an end to them. 219
