Iran Press/ Asia: The Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, left Tehran for New Delhi on Tuesday afternoon to discuss bilateral relations on his first trip to India since he became Iran's Foreign Minister.
He is paying an official visit at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
The visit will further boost our deep historical ties and partnership," Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson for the ministry of external affairs, wrote on Twitter.
Upon his arrival to New Delhi, Amir-Abdollahian stated that the level of Iran-India relations is appropriate, noting that in the exchange of delegations between the two countries, particularly in the incumbent government, comprehensive ties have grown, including in economic and cultural areas.
India and Iran have been jointly focusing on improving connectivity between South East Asia and Central Asia. Located in the Sistan-Balochistan province on Iran's southern coast, Chabahar Port is expected to become a key regional transit hub.
India, Iran, and Afghanistan are developing it to boost connectivity and trade ties.
