Tehran (IP)- Iranian deputy foreign minister for political affairs and Uzbekistan’s deputy foreign minister held a meeting on Wednesday, discussing the expansion of bilateral ties.

Iran PressIran News: In the meeting held in Tehran, Furkat Sidikov, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister said that his country is interested in expanding ties with Iran, especially in transportation, trade, and use of Iran’s Chabahar Port to facilitate and increase exports and imports between Iran and Uzbekistan.

In the meeting, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Ali Bagheri referred to the strong will of both sides to expand relations in all areas and said: "For the willingness of the two countries to go into effect; they need to speed up administrative processes."

"Iran’s policy of neighborliness seeks to turn “common cultural and civilizational assets” into “continuous political interactions” and “sustainable economic ties,” Bagheri added.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister for political affairs added that to strengthen regional peace and stability and achieve the interests of the two countries in terms of fighting terrorism and narcotrafficking and achieving common security goals in the region, we must engage in intensive and cohesive cooperation. On the developments and the current situation in Afghanistan, Bagheri said under no circumstances should countries ignore the plight of the Afghan people.

He noted that the stability of Afghanistan’s neighbors is not separate from the establishment of peace and stability in the country. Bagheri then said long-term cooperation would result in strengthened and lasting regional ties.

He said the traditional and previous routes could not meet food security needs, making it necessary to find alternative ways.
