Iran PressIran news: Cuba’s Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas has headed a high-level delegation to Tehran to meet and consult with Iranian officials and hold the 18th meeting of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission.

Iran's Minister of Finance, Ehsan Khandouzi, said in the meeting: "Iran has always wanted to establish long-term and stable economic relations with Latin American countries, especially Cuba, and given the history of excellent political cooperation between the two countries, Havana is of particular importance to Tehran."

The Minister also stated that we are expected to take more and more serious steps to develop cooperation and implement the agreements.

Khandouzi said that the most important reason for the lack of expansion of trade cooperation between the two countries was the lack of proper knowledge of business opportunities between the two countries.

He also pointed to the lack of appropriate legal frameworks to support the activities of the private sector and stressed the need to finalize incentive and mutual support agreements for investment and avoid double taxation between the two countries.

Cuba's Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas, while listing the negative factors affecting the Cuban economy, such as the economic sanctions or the serious effects of COVID 19, stressed the two factors of climate change and the Ukraine war, especially in food security, negatively affect the Cuban economy.

The deputy PM further announced his country's readiness to use the experience and technology of Iranian companies to implement economic projects in that country. Referring to the high capacity of Iran's agricultural, energy, health, and treatment sectors, as well as the capabilities of the country's companies, he stressed the need to increase long-term economic cooperation between the two sides.
